Desmond's development Category

Des,
You turned 29 months yesterday.  29.  That sounds so old, but when I say he’s almost 2 and a half, I realize it’s not.
My boy, you are super sick right now.  You have bronchitis.  You got sick at the end of last week, and by Tuesday, were still sick and running high fevers (102-103).  So [...]

In: Desmond's development, Mommyhood, My beautiful boy

The other day, I was driving in the car with Desmond. I grabbed a piece of gum and put it in my mouth. Des watched me and soon I heard him asking, “try it.”
I debated it for a few minutes, then figured, what the hell. So I gave him a half a piece of gum. [...]

Des,
You turned 28 months over a week ago.  I’m so sorry this letter is so late, but things around here have been insane.  Between your sister’s UTI and all of us being sick, I just haven’t had a moment to sit down and write this to you.  And I apologize for that.
My boy, I love [...]

About 2 months ago, we had a play date with Desmond’s best friend.  Like always, the kids played, holding hands, kissing each other, sharing drinks, and just being their usual selves.  It was a fun day and we loved hanging out with them.
About 2 days after that, the mom called me to tell me that [...]

Whenever Des was running around and falls, or just is off-balanced, I would tell him that he’s a drunkard.  Usually, I’d say, “Whoa, drunkard!”  And he’d giggle and then continue being silly.  And to be honest, I never really thought anything about it.
Then, a few weeks ago, Des was playing and lost his balance.  He [...]

About this blog

My name is Mallory. I’m a socially awkward person and really stink at making small talk. It’s something I’m working on, but if we ever meet in person, I apologize in advance for all the uncomfortable silences. I love dirty jokes – the dirtier the better. So, when we meet and I’m being awkward, tell me a dirty joke and I’ll get more comfortable.

I’m married to Ricky. He’s a firefighter/paramedic. We’ve known each other since I was 12 and have been a couple since I was 16. He’s really silly and I love that about him. He makes me happy. I really like him.

We had a baby in 2009. His name is Desmond and we love him. He’s amazing and we basically think he’s one of the greatest kids in the world.

In 2011, we had identical twin girls, Scarlett and Isla. We also think they are amazing and they are the two other greatest kids in the world.

This blog is meant to be a chronicle of our life together.
