Sometimes it's just you and your kids
About a month ago, we asked our friend Sarah to take some family photos of us. Luckily for us, she agreed. We decided to take some of just the kids during one of our play dates so we wouldn’t have to try to take a ton of photos in one day (actually, Sarah suggested this. She knows that kids can only sit still for so long without having meltdowns – she’s smart like that).
A few days later, she sent me the photos. And I fell in love with them. Every single photo is amazing and so beautifully taken. I know a lot of people who take photos, but only a few who are truly gifted with it, and Sarah is definitely one of them. I just feel like she so perfectly captures her subjects, and has such a brilliant use of light. But more than anything, I just feel like she perfectly captured my kids and their personalities. Especially with this picture of Scarlett.
When I saw it, I actually started to cry. I guess it was just a little overwhelming for me to see a picture that personified Scarlett’s personality. And I find myself returning to look at it, and showing it to family members, telling them about how much I love this photo.
Because for me, this picture is the definition of my Scarlett.
My name is Mallory. I’m a socially awkward person and really stink at making small talk. It’s something I’m working on, but if we ever meet in person, I apologize in advance for all the uncomfortable silences. I love dirty jokes – the dirtier the better. So, when we meet and I’m being awkward, tell me a dirty joke and I’ll get more comfortable.
I’m married to Ricky. He’s a firefighter/paramedic. We’ve known each other since I was 12 and have been a couple since I was 16. He’s really silly and I love that about him. He makes me happy. I really like him.
We had a baby in 2009. His name is Desmond and we love him. He’s amazing and we basically think he’s one of the greatest kids in the world.
In 2011, we had identical twin girls, Scarlett and Isla. We also think they are amazing and they are the two other greatest kids in the world.
This blog is meant to be a chronicle of our life together.
